Anxiety Coaching in Duesseldorf & Online: Your fear is a false alarm from your nervous system – and you can learn to switch it off.
If you have landed here, your fear has probably been on your mind for a while. Maybe you notice that it controls your daily life more than you would like. That you avoid certain situations or places, withdraw, or struggle to find calm in certain moments.
What you are experiencing has a reason. At some point your nervous system created a link between a situation and the feeling of danger. That link is still active today, even though the original trigger is long gone. For some people a single experience is behind it, for others several layers have built up over the years. Both can be changed.
Does This Sound Familiar?
You know what you want to do, but fear stops you at the decisive moment?
You avoid certain situations and keep losing more freedom in the process?
You often feel exhausted or notice an inner tension that will not let up?
You have already tried many things, but nothing has helped in a lasting way?
I am Birgit.
For over 25 years I have been working with people who want to overcome their everyday fears. In my practice in Duesseldorf and online.
Most come to me when they realise that avoidance and pushing through are no longer enough. From that point on, things get interesting.
First we look together at what is creating the most pressure for you right now. Then you get concrete steps you can put into practice straight away. Along the way we check what has changed and where adjustments are needed. And gradually you expand your freedom, step by step, at your own pace.

My Methods
Depending on what matters most for you right now, I combine the methods that fit.
NLP: Neuro-Linguistic Programming
When fear blocks you in certain situations, I use NLP to make the underlying pattern visible and change it in a targeted way. You learn to respond differently to triggers that have been stopping you so far.
For acute stress or a specific fear response that limits your daily life, I work with WingWave. Through targeted eye movements, emotional blockages can often be resolved surprisingly quickly.
When you notice that one part of you wants something while another part works against it, IFS helps. We look at your inner parts and bring them into contact so that you stop blocking yourself.
Many fears are kept alive by thoughts that feel like truths. With The Work we examine exactly those thoughts and check whether they really hold up. Often that alone already changes a lot.
When conscious thinking no longer gets you further, we go deeper. In hypnosis you reach layers where fear patterns are stored and can change them right where they originated.
Your nervous system needs more than conversations. Individually created meditations help you come out of alarm mode and find calm more quickly in everyday life.
Some fears reach further back than you can consciously grasp. With regression therapy according to Hans Ten Dam we go to the root and resolve imprints that still shape your experience today.
Some fears resolve surprisingly quickly. Sometimes just a few sessions are enough for a lot to change already.
Other issues need more time. Especially when the fear has become linked over the years with many situations, thoughts, bodily reactions or experiences. In those cases we look together at which patterns, reactions and inner connections keep activating and maintaining the fear.
I work in a very focused and solution-oriented way. Still, there are inner processes that need to prove themselves in everyday life and that you sometimes have to practise before you can move forward. That can take a few weeks.
Does the fear disappear immediately and completely through coaching?
Usually not.
Fear is often a misdirected alarm from your nervous system. Coaching is therefore about changing the processes that keep triggering and maintaining the fear.
You learn to realign yourself internally, change your reactions and stay able to act even with feelings that used to be uncomfortable. These changes do not only happen in the coaching session but develop above all through new experiences in everyday life. The more often your nervous system experiences that certain situations are manageable, the more the fear response can change.
Many people experience more freedom in their daily lives step by step. Situations that used to trigger strong fear gradually lose their intensity and often become much easier to handle.
Can I do coaching even if I am in a really bad place right now?
Yes, absolutely.
Many people come to my coaching when they are right in the middle of a crisis, feel overwhelmed by their fear or can barely regulate themselves anymore.
You do not have to be stable first in order to work with me. We work together on helping you become more stable again, step out of your acute anxiety spirals and regain more control over your experience.
We proceed step by step and orient ourselves to what is actually feasible for you right now.
Does my fear have to disappear completely before I can feel better?
No.
Many people believe that everything has to be "gone" before they can feel free or safe again. But change often begins much earlier than that.
My clients often notice after just the first few sessions that a lot is already changing. They understand themselves better, react differently, avoid less or experience certain situations as less distressing than before.
When you experience those kinds of shifts, it makes a huge difference. Gaining more influence over your own experience, making progress and seeing things improve often changes everything in the right direction.
How many sessions do I need?
For clearly defined issues, such as a phobia or a specific fear reaction, 2 to 5 sessions are often enough. When the fear has become linked over a longer period with many situations and patterns, more time is needed. In the introductory conversation you get a realistic estimate.
What if I have already tried many things?
That is the case for many of my clients. In the initial conversation we clarify what you have already tried and I compare that with how I would work with you. Then you decide whether my approach opens up new possibilities for you or not.
Is online coaching also an option?
Yes. About half of my clients work with me by video. For anxiety topics in particular that can even be an advantage: you are in your familiar surroundings, there is no journey to the session and you can apply what we have worked on directly in your everyday life.
Some who know both formats actually prefer online because they find it more focused.
